Chapter 1: The Truth Behind the Throne

The silence lasted only a heartbeat.
Then chaos erupted.
"What did he just say?"
"Majority shareholder?"
"That's impossible!"
Every executive looked from Julian to Richard, waiting for the CEO to deny the accusation.
He couldn't.
Richard's lips trembled, but no words came.
Julian calmly reached into his briefcase and placed several documents on the nearest banquet table.
"These are the official shareholder records."
"The ownership transfer."
"The voting agreements."
"Everything is legally registered."
Several board members rushed forward.
Within seconds, their expressions changed from disbelief to horror.
"It's real..."
"Olivia owns fifty-eight percent."
"Richard only owns twelve."
The room exploded.
Victoria staggered backward.
"No..."
"No, Richard..."
"Tell me he's lying."
Richard closed his eyes.
"I can't."
Victoria stared at her husband as if she had never seen him before.
"You told me this company belonged to you."
"I built it," Richard whispered.
"But three years ago..."
"...I nearly destroyed everything."
The ballroom grew quiet once again.
Richard finally looked at Olivia.
"My reckless investments almost bankrupted Harrington Global."
"The banks refused to help."
"The investors abandoned us."
"Only one person stepped forward."
He pointed toward Olivia.
"She bought the controlling shares through a private investment group."
"She saved every employee in this company."
Gasps echoed throughout the ballroom.
Olivia had never stolen the company.
She had rescued it.
Richard continued, his voice heavy with shame.
"I begged her to keep her identity secret."
"I promised that when the company recovered, I'd tell everyone the truth."
"I never did."
Julian looked directly at the board.
"Instead..."
"He accepted awards."
"Gave interviews."
"And allowed the world to believe he alone built this empire."
Not a single person defended Richard.
Because no one could.
Olivia quietly adjusted Julian's jacket around her shoulders.
"I never wanted applause."
"I only wanted this company to survive."
"But tonight..."
"...someone decided to destroy my dignity."
May you like
She looked at Victoria.
"And that changes everything."
