PART 2 — THE CONTRACT THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

Andrew tore open the envelope.

His face lost all color before he reached the second page.

"No..."

"This isn't possible."

Patricia snatched the papers from his hands.

Her confident smile disappeared.

The Whitlock family company had quietly borrowed millions over the previous two years to keep their luxury construction business alive.

Every bank had refused further financing.

Every investor had walked away.

Until one anonymous investment company purchased every outstanding loan.

No one ever discovered who owned it.

Until today.

At the bottom of the final page stood one signature.

Clara Mason.

The guests erupted into whispers.

Patricia stared at Clara.

"You... you're the investor?"

"I became one after your company refused to pay my father's engineering firm."

Patricia blinked.

Andrew looked up sharply.

"My father?"

Clara nodded.

"You remember Daniel Mason."

Andrew froze.

The elderly engineer who had helped build half of the Whitlock developments.

The man Andrew's family accused of causing a structural failure.

The man whose reputation had been destroyed.

Only now...

Clara removed another folder.

Inside was the independent investigation that had been hidden for years.

The collapse had never been Daniel Mason's fault.

Patricia had approved the use of cheaper materials to increase profits.

Every page carried signatures.

Invoices.

Emails.

Audit reports.

The evidence was undeniable.

Andrew's breathing became shallow.

"My mother..."

Patricia stepped backward.

"I can explain."

"No," Clara answered softly.

"You've been explaining for seven years."

"Today..."

"You finally get to tell the truth."

The venue doors opened again.

This time it wasn't the manager.

May you like

It was investigators.

And they already had a warrant.
