Chapter 4 – Home at Last

Two months later...
Snow covered the Ashford estate.
But inside the mansion...
Everything had changed.
Laughter replaced fear.
The servants smiled again.
Fresh flowers filled every room.
Emily walked slowly through the nursery.
A tiny baby girl slept peacefully in her arms.
Nathan leaned against the doorway.
"I think she has your eyes."
Emily laughed.
"I think she already has your stubbornness."
Margaret entered carrying a small wooden box.
Inside was a silver bracelet.
An Ashford family heirloom.
"It belonged to your mother."
She gently fastened it around Emily's wrist.
"It finally came home."
Emily looked around the room.
The same mansion where she had once cried alone...
Had become the place where her daughter would grow up surrounded by love.
Nathan wrapped one arm around his wife.
The baby yawned.
Outside...
The first rays of morning sunlight touched the windows.
Emily whispered,
"I used to think this house was cursed."
Nathan kissed her forehead.
"It wasn't the house."
"It was the people who filled it with hate."
"And now..."
"We choose something different."
Years later...
Their daughter would ask about the scar on Emily's hand.
Emily would smile.
She would tell her only one thing.
"Never mistake silence for weakness."
"Kindness is powerful."
"But justice is patient."
"It always arrives."
Sometimes through a courtroom.
Sometimes through the truth.
And sometimes...
May you like
It simply walks through the front door.
The End.
