Chapter 2: A Daughter Comes Home

Chapter 2: A Daughter Comes Home
The courtyard remained silent except for the sound of rain.
No one moved.
No one dared to speak.
Chairman Shortman kept one arm around Anna while gently shielding the newborn from the storm with his expensive overcoat.
"It's over," he whispered. "No one will ever hurt you again."
Anna stared at him through tear-filled eyes.
"I... I don't understand."
The Chairman reached into his wallet and carefully unfolded an old, faded photograph.
It showed a little girl no older than four.
She wore a tiny silver bracelet engraved with a single letter—A.
Anna instinctively looked down at her own wrist.
The same bracelet.
The one she had worn for as long as she could remember.
"I found this bracelet with me at the orphanage," she whispered.
Chairman Shortman's voice trembled.
"Your mother had it custom-made before she passed away."
"My little Anna... we searched every city, every orphanage, every country we could."
"I never stopped looking."
Tears streamed down Anna's face.
For twenty-four years, she had believed she had been abandoned.
Now she realized she had been loved every single day.
Behind them, Leo slowly stepped forward.
"Anna..."
But before he could say another word, four black SUVs entered the estate.
More than a dozen security guards stepped out in perfect formation.
One of them spoke calmly.
"Chairman, the family aircraft is ready."
Chairman Shortman nodded.
"My daughter is coming home."
