CHAPTER 1 — THE FOOTAGE THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

The first sound Marcus heard was not Isabella’s accusation.

It was Khloe’s breathing.

Weak.

Uneven.

Terrified.

For years, Marcus Thorne had built an empire by recognizing danger before it arrived.

But standing inside that hospital suite, he realized he had failed at the one thing that mattered most.

Protecting his wife.

Protecting his child.

He rushed across the marble floor and dropped beside Khloe.

"Khloe..."

His voice broke.

She opened her eyes slowly.

For a moment, she didn’t see the billionaire CEO everyone feared.

She only saw her husband.

The man she trusted.

"The baby..." she whispered.

That single word destroyed him.

Marcus immediately placed a hand over hers.

"Don’t talk. I’m here."

Behind him, Isabella continued crying.

"I don’t know what happened," she said softly. "She became angry and attacked me."

Elaine Parker looked between the two women.

Something felt wrong.

The scene didn’t match Isabella’s story.

The shattered glass.

The overturned table.

Khloe’s injuries.

And Isabella standing untouched.

Almost too untouched.

Then the suite door opened again.

A man in a dark hospital security uniform stepped inside.

Everyone turned.

"Mr. Thorne."

Marcus looked up.

The man removed his security badge.

"My name is Daniel Carter."

Khloe’s eyes widened.

"Uncle Daniel..."

The room went silent.

Isabella’s expression changed.

Only for a second.

But Marcus saw it.

Fear.

Real fear.

Daniel walked forward calmly.

"I was informed there was an incident in this suite."

His eyes moved toward Isabella.

"And before anyone makes another accusation, you should know something."

He lifted a small tablet.

"The entire hallway and private suite are under surveillance."

Isabella froze.

Marcus stared at the screen.

"Show me."

Daniel pressed play.

The room filled with silence.

The footage began.

There was no misunderstanding.

No argument.

No accidental fall.

Everyone watched as Isabella pushed Khloe.

Everyone watched as Isabella attacked her.

Everyone watched the truth unfold second by second.

Isabella’s face lost all color.

"No..."

Her voice became a whisper.

"This is impossible."

Marcus slowly stood.

The pain in his eyes was replaced by something colder.

"You lied."

Isabella stepped backward.

"I can explain."

"No."

Marcus looked at her.

"You can’t."
