Chapter 1 – The Blue Star

Chapter 1 – The Blue Star

The terminal fell silent as two airport security officers tackled the fleeing woman before she reached the exit doors.

She struggled only for a moment.

Then she stopped.

Her expensive sunglasses slipped onto the polished floor.

The confidence that had carried her through the airport vanished.

The little boy stood frozen.

He had no idea why everyone was staring at him.

He only knew one thing.

The bracelet had changed everything.

The airport employee knelt beside him.

"My name is Elena," she said gently. "You're safe now."

The boy looked at her with uncertain eyes.

"My name is Mateo... I think."

"You think?"

He nodded.

"The lady always called me Matthew. She said Mateo was just a baby name."

Elena exchanged a worried glance with one of the officers.

Memory manipulation.

Years of lies.

The child no longer knew which parts of his life were real.

Within an hour, detectives arrived.

The forged passport was examined.

Every security feature had been expertly copied.

But one mistake remained.

The passport photograph had been altered digitally, yet the biometric chip contained different data.

Someone had expected airport staff to trust appearances instead of technology.

They had almost succeeded.

Detective Ryan Torres sat across from Mateo in a quiet interview room.

"No one is angry with you," he said.

"We just need to know where you've been living."

Mateo lowered his head.

"I don't know the address."

"Do you remember anything?"

"A big house."

"A piano."

"A woman who said I should never talk to police."

His voice became quieter.

"She told me my real mother abandoned me."

Elena felt tears gathering again.

Because she knew that wasn't true.

She remembered the woman with the blue-star posters.

She remembered watching her walk through this very terminal every weekend, asking strangers the same heartbreaking question.

"Have you seen my son?"

May you like

No one had.

Until today.
