CHAPTER ONE:The Night the Empire Began to Burn

The helicopter wasn't alone.
Three more followed behind it, their searchlights sweeping across Blackwood Estate like giant white blades cutting through the darkness.
Adrian frowned.
"What the hell..."
The front gates exploded open.
Not with violence.
With authority.
A convoy of black SUVs rolled into the courtyard.
Their headlights flooded the mansion.
Within seconds, dozens of agents wearing dark tactical jackets surrounded the estate.
The words Federal Financial Crimes Bureau gleamed across their backs.
Vivian stood so quickly her champagne glass shattered against the marble floor.
"No..."
She whispered.
"This can't be happening."
Adrian laughed.
It was forced.
"They're here by mistake."
He straightened his expensive suit and walked toward the entrance with the confidence of a billionaire accustomed to solving problems with a phone call.
Then the doors opened.
A silver-haired man entered first.
Not an officer.
Not a politician.
Just an elderly gentleman carrying a simple black cane.
Every federal agent immediately stepped aside.
Some lowered their heads respectfully.
Adrian's smile faded.
I smiled for the first time in months.
"My father."
Damien Sinclair had spent forty years building one of the world's most influential investment groups.
Very few people recognized his face.
Even fewer knew how much power he truly held.
He looked at my blood-soaked clothes.
His hands trembled.
Not with fear.
With rage.
"My daughter."
His voice was soft.
"They touched my daughter."
I had never seen him angry.
Until tonight.
He removed his tailored coat and gently placed it around my shoulders.
"I'm sorry," he whispered.
"I should have come sooner."
Adrian stared between us.
"This..."
He laughed nervously.
"This is ridiculous."
"You told me your father was an accountant."
Dad looked at him.
"I was."
"Forty-two years ago."
Silence.
Then one of the federal directors stepped forward.
"Mr. Adrian Blackwood."
"You are under investigation for conspiracy, corporate fraud, international money laundering, tax evasion, bribery, securities manipulation, and attempted destruction of evidence."
Another agent added quietly,
"And attempted murder."
Adrian blinked.
"What?"
Dad turned toward the lead investigator.
"Play the recording."
The room filled with sound.
Vivian's laughter.
The whip striking flesh.
Adrian counting each lash.
Their threats.
Their admissions.
Their plan to frame me.
Every word echoed through the grand hall.
Nobody spoke.
When the recording ended...
The sound of handcuffs echoed louder than the helicopters outside.
For the first time in his life...
May you like
Adrian realized money could buy many things.
But not another tomorrow.
