The criminal charges spread through Ryan's business community faster than anyone expected.
His construction company depended on public trust.
Within forty-eight hours, two major clients suspended their contracts pending the outcome of the investigation.

She stood outside holding flowers.
"I came to apologize."
I didn't unlock the door.
The security camera recorded everything.
"I've already forgiven myself," I said through the intercom.
"What you need is accountability."

"We're family."
"No," I answered calmly.

She lowered her head.

"I've moved out."
"What?"
"I can't stay in that house anymore."
She laughed softly.
"It took watching you stand up for yourself before I realized I'd spent years staying silent."
That conversation changed both our lives.
