CHAPTER 2 — The Truth Hidden in Plain Sight

The next morning, financial news exploded.

"Castle Hospitality Announces Leadership Transition."

"Founding Family Resumes Direct Control."

"Former CEO Removed Overnight."

Television networks called it shocking.

Inside the Reynolds family...

No one was surprised.

Marcus drove to the family estate.

He pounded on the massive wooden doors.

"Open!"

No answer.

Again.

Finally, the gates slid open.

Not for him.

For Isabella.

She stepped from a black sedan dressed in a simple white suit.

No diamonds.

No luxury handbag.

Only quiet confidence.

Marcus rushed toward her.

"You planned this."

She looked at him for several seconds.

"No."

"You did."

"I waited."

His anger cracked.

"You ruined me."

Isabella's eyes never changed.

"No, Marcus."

"You spent years doing that yourself."

She walked toward the entrance.

He grabbed her wrist.

Immediately, two security officers intervened.

"Release Mrs. Reynolds."

He froze.

Mrs. Reynolds.

Not Mrs. Marcus Reynolds.

Not anymore.

Inside the mansion, Isabella entered her father's study.

The old man smiled softly.

"I hoped he would choose differently."

"So did I."

Her father opened a weathered photo album.

Inside were photographs from twenty years earlier.

A young Marcus.

An ambitious hotel manager.

An honest man.

"I believed in him."

"So did I."

"What changed?"

Isabella closed the album.

"He forgot that power is borrowed."

"And respect isn't."

Outside...

Marcus stood alone at the gates.

May you like

For the first time in his life...

No door opened when he knocked.
