Chapter 1: The Name Inside the Locket

The marble floor seemed to vibrate beneath everyone's feet.

The broken necklace lay in the center of the grand hall, its golden locket cracked open from Doña Elena’s furious slap.

For a moment, nobody moved.

Then Don Alejandro slowly bent down and picked it up.

His hands trembled.

Inside the shattered locket was a faded photograph of a little girl with dark curls and bright eyes.

On the back, written in fading ink, were three words:

"Sofia Isabella Castillo."

The room fell silent.

Sofia stared at the photo.

"I've never seen that before," she whispered.

Doña Elena scoffed.

"Stop pretending."

But Alejandro wasn't listening.

His face had turned pale.

Twenty years ago, a little girl named Sofia Isabella Castillo had disappeared during a stormy night.

The entire city searched for her.

The police never found a body.

The case remained unsolved.

And only Alejandro knew the truth.

Because Sofia Isabella wasn't kidnapped.

She had been taken.

By him.

A sudden memory crashed into his mind.

The fire.

The screams.

The terrified child clinging to his coat.

A promise made in desperation.

His knees nearly gave out.

"No..." he muttered.

Sofia looked at him.

"What is it?"

Alejandro raised his eyes.

For the first time, he truly looked at the young maid standing before him.

The shape of her eyes.

The birthmark near her shoulder.

The same features as the woman he had once loved.

And then he realized something impossible.

The missing girl had never died.

She was standing right in front of him.

"Sofia..." he whispered.

"You are not who you think you are."

The entire family gasped.

But before he could explain, a voice echoed from the entrance.

"Then perhaps it's time everyone learns the whole truth."

A gray-haired stranger stepped into the mansion.
