Part 2: The Woman Who Was Erased

The room was cleared within minutes, but the truth stayed behind like smoke that wouldn’t fade.

Daniel locked himself in his private study, the photograph still in his hand.

Victoria followed him, her heels striking sharply against the marble floor.

“This is insane,” she said. “You’re not actually believing her, are you? Some waitress walks in with a story and suddenly your entire past changes?”

Daniel turned slowly.

“Her name,” he said quietly, “is Lila.”

Victoria froze.

“That’s impossible,” she whispered.

But Daniel was already remembering.

Rain. A small apartment. A woman crying as she held a newborn child. A final argument. A door closing.

A life he had chosen to erase in order to protect his empire.

Or so he told himself.

“I thought she left,” Daniel said. “I thought she disappeared.”

Victoria’s face tightened.

“You were told she left,” she corrected coldly. “Because that was what needed to be true.”

Silence.

Then the truth landed harder than any slap.

Daniel’s eyes narrowed. “What did you do?”

Victoria didn’t answer immediately.

And that silence answered everything.
