Chapter 1: The Man Who Lost Everything
Marcus stood frozen in the hotel lobby as employees walked past him without a single greeting.
Only minutes ago, every person in the building had rushed to obey his orders.
Now no one even acknowledged his existence.
His phone rang.
It was the chairman of the bank financing Castle Hospitality Group.
Marcus answered with forced confidence.
"There must be some mistake."
"There isn't," the chairman replied coldly. "Every loan tied to your personal guarantees has been suspended pending review."
The line went dead.
Another call.
His attorney.
"Marcus... you need to come to the office immediately."
"What now?"
"The ownership transfer exposed something we never knew."
Marcus felt his stomach tighten.
"What are you talking about?"
"Your shares."
"They're gone."
Silence.
"They were never legally yours."
Marcus's face drained of color.
Years ago, Isabella had persuaded her father to allow Marcus to manage the company after their marriage.
But management was never ownership.
Every contract had contained one hidden clause.
If Marcus ever abandoned or attempted to remove Isabella from the company, every management right would immediately expire.
Automatically.
Without notice.
Without appeal.
Marcus remembered signing those papers years earlier.
He had never bothered reading them.
Now every signature had become a weapon against him.
Meanwhile, upstairs, his mistress found herself locked inside the presidential suite.
The digital locks refused to open.
Hotel security arrived.
"Ma'am, this room now belongs to the company owner."
"But Marcus—"
"Mr. Marcus no longer has authorization."
She was escorted out carrying nothing but a designer handbag.
The same guests who had admired her only an hour earlier watched her leave in embarrassed silence.
Outside, Isabella never looked back.
She simply entered a waiting black sedan.
Her father was already inside.
"You did well," he said.
She stared out the window.
