Trump Intensifies Attacks on Ilhan Omar During Air Force One Remarks

What initially started as a viral moment involving the White House and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) earlier this month has now evolved into a larger political clash. While speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, President Donald Trump renewed his criticism of the Somali-born congresswoman and broadened his remarks to address Somali immigration to the United States.

Omar previously commented during an October appearance on The Dean Obeidallah Show that she was not concerned about the possibility of losing her U.S. citizenship or being deported to Somalia, the country where she was born.

“I’m not worried,” Omar said during the interview. “I don’t know how they could take away my citizenship or deport me. And honestly, I don’t even see why that threat is supposed to be frightening. I’m not the eight-year-old who fled war anymore. I’m an adult now, and my children are grown. I could choose to live anywhere.”

On November 10, the White House account on X posted a photo from 2024 showing Trump waving from the drive-thru window of a McDonald’s during a campaign stop in Pennsylvania. The image was shared as a reply to a clip of Omar’s remarks about deportation.

The post quickly gained traction online, with many users interpreting it as a sarcastic “good-bye” message directed at the Minnesota lawmaker.

The dispute resurfaced days later when Trump spoke with reporters while traveling aboard Air Force One. During the conversation, he referenced long-standing allegations that Omar may have entered the United States through a fraudulent marriage.
