Kai Trump Addresses Relationship Status — Here’s What She Said

Kai Trump Opens Up About Her Love Life, Family, and Future Plans

Kai Trump, the 18-year-old granddaughter of former U.S. President Donald Trump, recently offered fans a rare glimpse into her personal life during a Q&A session posted on her YouTube channel. The social media personality candidly addressed a range of questions, including one that many viewers were curious about: her relationship status.

When asked, “Are you single?”, Kai responded with refreshing honesty.

"I'm kind of talking to a guy right now, we might go to prom together," she shared. "So yeah, I'm like yes…no…kind of…figuring it out." Her answer reflects the relatable uncertainty of teenage relationships, even as she navigates life in the public eye.

Balancing Dating With Secret Service Protection

In addition to her YouTube revelations, Kai spoke on the Impaulsive podcast about the unique challenges of dating while under constant Secret Service protection—a reality since her grandfather’s return to the presidency in 2025. She admitted that the presence of security agents can make ordinary teenage experiences feel anything but normal.

"To be honest with you, it's really awkward when you're sitting and going on a date with a guy, and they're like two tables behind you. It's a little weird," she explained. Despite the discomfort, Kai noted that she has learned to adapt. "I try my best not to let it bother me, and over the past year I've learned to focus and pretend like they're not there."

A Grounded Upbringing

Kai is the eldest child of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife, Vanessa Trump. Currently in her senior year of high school, she emphasized that her parents have always encouraged independence and open-mindedness, helping her remain grounded despite her high-profile family background.

"My mom let us have our own opinions, and she's very calm and chill—she likes hearing people out," Kai said. She also spoke affectionately about her father, adding with a touch of humor, "Obviously my dad, I love him, but he just goes to war online." She reiterated that no specific beliefs were ever imposed on her, stating, "Nothing was ever pushed upon us. I just happen to be a granddaughter of the president."

Academic and Athletic Aspirations

Looking ahead, Kai is preparing for an exciting new chapter. She is set to attend the University of Miami in the fall of 2026, where she plans to join the university’s golf team. An avid golfer, Kai has long been passionate about the sport and expressed her enthusiasm in a previous Instagram post:

"I am super excited to be a Cane and represent the University of Miami. Gooo Canes! I would like to thank my mom, Vanessa, and my dad, Don, for always supporting me through my journey. I would also like to thank my great team for getting me to this point and my Grandpa for giving me access to great courses and tremendous support."

Overcoming a Setback

Kai’s golfing ambitions faced a temporary setback in January when she underwent surgery on her left wrist following a sports-related injury. She revealed that the procedure addressed damage to the stabilizing tissues of her extensor carpi ulnaris (ECU) tendon and the fibrocartilage complex. The surgery was successfully performed at the Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute by Dr. Thomas Graham, Chief of Jefferson Orthopedics.

"I look forward to my rehab in the coming months and am excited for the ability to play golf pain-free," she shared, expressing optimism about her recovery and future in the sport.
